Job Description:

Our Opportunity

Chewy is seeking a Finance Manager to support our Dog Consumables Emerging business (Fresh/Frozen)! This role is the financial and strategic partner to the Fresh/Frozen merchandising and cross-functional operating teams and combines strong financial acumen, practical knowledge of financial statements, and a data-driven approach to decision-making. The Finance Manager will own the Fresh/Frozen P&L, lead weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting and forecasting cycles, support new vendor onboarding and vendor funding negotiations, and partner closely with Cold Supply Chain, Transportation, Procurement, and FC Operations to understand cold-chain economics and fulfillment network dynamics.

At Chewy, we believe in ownership and accountability and value creativity. We are makers and doers who thrive on the desire to drive results. We approach our mission to provide the best service and customer experience anywhere with a dogged determination and a cheerful disposition. Sure, we work hard, but we have fun, too. Of course, that's not hard to do when you get to bring your favorite four-legged friend to the office.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the Fresh/Frozen P&L and serve as the day-to-day finance partner to business leadership, ensuring strong controllership, performance management, and decision support across a high-growth, high-complexity business.

  • Lead forecasting and planning cycles (weekly, monthly, quarterly), including development of key assumptions, risks, and opportunities tracking, and clear driver-based variance explanations (volume, mix, discounting, funding, freight, packaging/dry ice, inventory adjustments).

  • Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reporting (WBR/MBR/QBR), including results vs plan/forecast, KPI performance, and concise narratives for senior leadership.

  • Oversee month-end close activities for Fresh/Frozen, including reconciliation and root-cause analysis of variances between actuals, trends, plan, and targets.

  • Partner closely with Cold Supply Chain and FC Operations to translate fulfillment center dynamics into financial outcomes and actionable levers, including shipped-to-placed variability, network capacity constraints, service levels, and cost drivers.

  • Own core cold-chain economics levers through cross-functional partnership with Transportation, Procurement, Packaging, and Ops Finance, including freight, dry ice usage, packaging costs, and shrink/inventory adjustment drivers.

  • Support new vendor onboarding and deal economics by building and maintaining models that evaluate margin, funding structures, launch ramps, and profitability guardrails, ensuring new selection meets economics expectations before launch.

  • Support vendor funding strategy and negotiations (including AVN and off-cycle negotiations) by building data-backed targets, validating funding coverage for promotions and offers, and surfacing gaps early to protect profitability.

  • Build and maintain scalable financial models and mechanisms that improve forecasting reliability and decision speed, including repeatable driver frameworks, standardized templates, and automated reporting where possible.

  • Conduct deep-dive and ad hoc analyses to diagnose performance, quantify trade-offs, and provide recommendations that drive results (for example, mix shifts, cost-to-serve drivers, launch economics, and operational efficiency opportunities).

  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Merchandising, Analytics, Product, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Accounting to align on one set of numbers and execute against business priorities.

  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting, forecasting, and analytical processes by simplifying workflows, strengthening metric definitions, and improving automation and documentation to reduce person-dependency.

  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards for accuracy, clarity, and stakeholder responsiveness.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or similar required. MBA preferred.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience (Strategic Finance, Financial Analysis, Corporate Finance, Ops/Supply Chain Finance, Investment Banking), preferably with exposure to retail/e-commerce finance, P&L ownership, and financial modeling.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and P&L mechanics, with experience in forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and KPI performance management.

  • Advanced analytical and modeling skills, including the ability to synthesize large datasets and translate findings into clear recommendations for business leaders.

  • Working experience with SQL or another programming language is required. Experience with Hyperion or other EPM/FP&A tools is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to distill complex information clearly for senior stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguity and rapidly changing conditions while consistently delivering high-quality outputs.

  • High ownership mentality, strong bias for action, and proven ability to drive projects to completion through cross-functional influence.

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Data visualization experience (Tableau or similar) is a plus.

  • Experience partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, or a fulfillment network is strongly preferred, especially in cost-to-serve, transportation, or cold-chain/temperature-sensitive categories.
