Chewy
Job Description:
We are hiring outstanding humans, and we hope that includes you!
Are you looking for more than just a job? At Chewy, you’ll find yourself on a career path with other incredible humans, like yourself. You’ll be part of a team that values everything that you do, who you are, and the goals you have set for your career. We want to give you the opportunity to grow, earn competitive pay, and be happy while you do it. Sounds simple, but we love it.
Your Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking an Associate Director of Compensation to lead compensation strategy for Chewy Vet Care (CVC), our fastest-growing line of business and a critical pillar of Chewy’s long-term strategy. Based in our Plantation, FL headquarters, this role will serve as the lead compensation partner to Chewy Vet Care, working closely with HR, Talent Acquisition, and business leadership. This is a highly visible, high-impact individual contributor role responsible for building and scaling compensation programs across a complex, multi-site healthcare environment.
You will play a key role in shaping how we attract, retain, and reward veterinary and support talent across practices, field operations, and corporate teams. This includes designing compensation structures from the ground up, establishing job architecture and leveling, and ensuring programs are competitive, scalable, and aligned to business growth.
This role requires strong business judgment, analytical rigor, and executive presence, along with the ability to navigate complexity in a fast-paced, regulated healthcare environment. The ideal candidate combines a framework-driven approach with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset—equally comfortable advising senior leaders on compensation strategy and driving complex compensation initiatives from design through implementation. This role is ideal for a compensation leader who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building from scratch, and is excited to influence strategy in a rapidly evolving healthcare business.
What You’ll Do:
Serve as the primary compensation advisor for Chewy Vet Care, shaping strategy for a high-growth and highly visible business
Partner with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, and business leadership to deliver data-driven compensation recommendations
Lead job evaluation, leveling, and market pricing for a diverse set of healthcare roles (clinic, field, corporate, and hybrid)
Design and implement scalable compensation structures, including hourly, salaried, and incentive-based pay models
Build and evolve wage structures and incentive programs aligned to healthcare market practices, regional dynamics, and regulatory requirements
Develop custom compensation frameworks to support new clinic launches, market expansion, and talent retention strategies
Contribute to building a scalable job architecture and internal mobility framework for healthcare roles
Monitor market trends, survey data, and regulatory changes to inform ongoing compensation strategy
Develop tools, frameworks, and education materials to enable consistent and effective compensation decision-making
Present recommendations and influence senior HR and business leaders
What You’ll Need:
8+ years of progressive compensation experience, including support for healthcare, clinical, or high-growth field organizations
5+ years of experience partnering with and influencing senior leaders and executives
Deep expertise with managing job architecture, market pricing, pay equity, and incentive design
Proven ability to build and scale compensation programs in ambiguous or early-stage environments
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels
Collaborative, adaptable work style with strong cross-functional partnership skills
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business, or related field; CCP preferred
Proficiency in Workday, Excel, and PowerPoint
Bonus:
Experience with clinical or healthcare compensation structures
Exposure to commission or incentive pay design for field or relationship/sales roles
Background in job architecture implementation or re-mapping
Familiarity with regulations impacting healthcare compensation (e.g., FLSA state wage laws)
What You’ll Get:
Opportunity to build and shape compensation strategy for a fast-growing healthcare business
A high-impact role with access to senior leadership
Opportunities for career growth and development within a rapidly scaling organization
