Our Opportunity:
The Payroll Analyst will work collaboratively with the payroll team and management to ensure efficient payroll processes while staying compliant with all regulations and policies! This individual will serve as an SME, coordinate payroll projects, and identify process improvement opportunities. This individual will specialize in troubleshooting complex payroll systems and reporting updates, issues, and inquiries. This individual may also work with partners in Accounting, Human Resources, Third Party Vendors, and other internal departments on various initiatives.
What You’ll Do:
Serve as an escalation point for payroll, reporting, and system issues
Execute complex and/or high-impact business processes and/or transactions
Execute end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
Set up and process involuntary deductions in accordance with legal requirements.
Manage payroll schedules, local tax requirements, direct deposits, and disbursement timelines.
Process payroll adjustments and on-demand payments as needed.
Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Performs maintenance on payroll updates and is responsible for testing new or changed payroll functionality, providing detailed design and program specifications
Proactively assess, refine, and implement Payroll process improvements and tools, including requirements, system design, data flows, interfaces, testing, validation, documentation, and team training
Plan, facilitate, and/or execute projects assigned as a core team member or lead on payroll-specific and cross-functional initiatives
Act as a mentor to other payroll team members, providing training, support, and mentorship on tasks and troubleshooting.
Educate employees on payroll policies, tax forms, and benefits-related payroll matters. Answer employees’ inquiries via the ticketing system.
Ability to initiate and lead conversations to drive payroll projects and issue resolutions, including directing the work of team members
Ensures per pay period, quarterly, and annual payroll reporting and data reconciliations are performed accurately and timely
Research laws and regulations changes and how they affect the payroll system and processes
Create and maintain complex reports from Workday and other systems
Ability to identify issues and demonstrate curiosity to investigate and resolve
Support Payroll management and team members with projects and other tasks as required.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a relevant field. An appropriate combination of education and work experience will be considered.
3+ years of related experience processing high volume, multi-state payroll for a mid to large-sized company
1+ years of related experience leading special initiatives
Hands-on and strong knowledge/experience with Workday Payroll, ADP SmartCompliance, and UKG
An understanding of federal and state regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, benefits, and other payroll-related matters is required
Understanding of payroll accounting
Consistently achieves goals by prioritizing work appropriately
Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word)
Able to work independently
Able to work in a high-growth environment under tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
FPC or CPP certification preferred
