Our Opportunity:

At Chewy, data drives all our decision-making; our Finance organization is no exception. Chewy is seeking a Data Governance Analyst III to join our Finance and Accounting Team! In this role, you will steer us toward a data-driven future. You will oversee building a team, devising and executing the strategies, and establishing a Finance Data Governance Function. You will collaborate closely with Finance, Accounting, Tax, and IT to define the enterprise Finance data strategy and collectively deliver value across: 1) Master Data Management & Configuration, 2) Data Definitions and Quality

What you'll do:

  • Manage a team to own finance data processes and strategy – including master data creation & maintenance, data definitions, and data quality monitoring
  • Build a framework for master data definition, approval, and creation – starting with Chart of Accounts Master Data (Cost Centers, Accounts, etc.)
  • Deliver a strategic roadmap, encompassing standardizing data definitions and classification, governance, change management, and data security practices; this will include building the business case and advocating for the people, processes, and tools required in the Finance Data Governance team
  • Define and shape the enterprise data ownership models across all areas within Finance across applications (Allocations Engine, Oracle ERP, Oracle EPM, Coupa, Vertex), data warehouses (Snowflake), and reporting/analytics (Tableau)
  • Collaborate with a cross-department operating committee to ensure data changes for non-financial data are assessed and validated
  • Identify data use cases and gaps in data definitions, working with upstream data owners and consumers to align these to enterprise data definitions and implement them into the overall data ecosystem
  • Think creatively to find efficient solutions to our complex, often unstructured problems
  • Mitigate compliance risk and support auditing

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data strategy, data governance, data management, data engineering, or a related field
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams to success
  • Strong understanding of data-driven business models within the Finance capability
  • Track record of delivering measurable results in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to explain system issues to non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and applications quickly.
  • Demonstrate an analytical, methodical, and creative approach to resolving issues.
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance frameworks
  • Working knowledge of IT security policies, standards, and protocols as it relate to Finance data protection
  • Experience with Finance technologies (Allocations Engine, Oracle ERP, Oracle EPM, Coupa, Vertex) and Data Warehouses (Snowflake)

Bonus:

  • Ability to manage a team that will deliver data engineering pipeline solutions for Finance and Accounting, improving data availability and visibility into item-level profitability across the organization
  • Familiarity with data engineering tools, including Airflow, PySpark, DBT, AWS, Control M
