ABOUT THE ROLE

As Financial Controller, you are the steward of SynthBee’s financial foundation - translating day-to-day accounting into a clean, consistent source of truth the whole company can build on. Reporting to the SVP, Finance, you’ll own the accounting close, internal controls, compliance, and reporting that keep an early-stage company running with precision.

You’ll be building the financial backbone for a company creating the future of collaborative intelligence, thinking as much like an operator as an accountant - setting up the systems, rigor, and discipline that let us scale with confidence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Accounting & Close

• Own the full accounting cycle: general ledger, month-end and year-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations, delivering accurate, timely financials every period.
• Establish and maintain GAAP-compliant accounting policies and procedures that scale with a fast-growing startup.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and expense workflows with care and precision.

Controls & Compliance

• Design and enforce internal controls that safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Manage tax filings, audits, and regulatory compliance in partnership with external accountants, auditors, and advisors.
• Serve as SynthBee’s subject matter expert on accounting standards, revenue recognition, and financial compliance requirements.

Reporting & Systems

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and board-ready reporting packages for the SVP, Finance and the Senior Leadership Team.
• Own and continuously optimize our accounting and finance tech stack, ensuring data integrity at every touchpoint.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury operations to keep the company liquid and informed.

Partnership & Performance

• Partner with FP&A to reconcile actuals to budget and give leadership a clear, reliable view of financial performance.
• Collaborate with People and IT on payroll, equity administration, and cross-functional finance processes.
• Performance in this role is measured against established OKRs co-created with the SVP, Finance and aligned with SynthBee’s Mission Control Operations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including a blend of public accounting and in-house or startup environments.
• Deep working knowledge of US GAAP and hands-on ownership of the full accounting close.
• Expertise with modern accounting and ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks or similar) and a knack for building scalable financial systems.
• Experience designing and operating internal controls, and managing audits, tax, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong analytical skills.
• High attention to detail and discretion, especially when handling sensitive financial information.
• The ability to build structure in ambiguity without losing warmth or perspective. A CPA is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a full-time, in-person role at SynthBee HQ in Pembroke Pines, FL, Monday through Friday. The role requires extended periods of computer use, research, and code development. Our office is a dynamic, high-energy environment built for the kind of deep collaboration and creative problem-solving that thrives in person.
