POSITION SUMMARY:

The System Engineer is responsible for innovative problem-solving associated with the design, implementation, management, and support of the DSS, Inc. cloud and hybrid infrastructure with an emphasis on performance, security, and automation. This position is 100% Remote

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs:

Provide advanced system administration and operational support of cloud and hybrid workloads, including virtualization, networking, storage, automation, data protection, security, and routine maintenance.
Design, develop, and build solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and other cloud services.
Ensure technology solutions are designed and implemented for high availability and performance to meet service level agreements, functional requirements, and disaster recovery readiness for business continuity.
Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provisioning of workaround solutions or escalation to service owners.
Contribute to the cloud architecture vision and technical roadmaps and advocate from a strategic perspective to drive cloud transformation and improvements.
Design, configure, implement, and support an automated workflow for cloud and virtual environment provisioning.
Develop and maintain a library of detailed design and deployment documentation.
Maintains and support different web applications on different cloud infrastructure environments.
Keep documentation up to date including web application installation guides and troubleshooting articles.
Troubleshooting as required, leading problem-solving efforts with outside vendors, other technical personnel and/or organizations.Daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, web applications, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Security monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing. Ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.

Other Duties:

Works with other departments’ teams, as requested, in recommending the required hardware and software topology for the right deployment architecture.
Contributes to the development and completion of technical RFP’s.
Performs on-call responsibilities and after-hours duties as necessary and/or directed by DSS Management.
Manages the cloud data center and computer host systems including hardware, software, web applications, and equipment such as temperature monitoring, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection systems.
Operates and provides support for enterprise communication systems in-house and on cloud.
Establishes, maintains, and manages service accounts. Installs, modifies, and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software.
Operates and provides support for enterprise package distribution and corporate directory services.
Provides support for custom developed web applications.

Required:

7+ years of experience administering Windows Server 2012+
3+ years of AWS experience
Has verifiable experience with:AWS large-scale virtualized environments
Domain controllers and Active Directory services.
Virtual Networks configuration and troubleshooting skills
Enterprise backup and recovery procedures
System performance monitoring tools
Cloud containers
Scripting
Desired:

Hard Skills:Fluency in at least one scripting language, shell scripting, and experience with object-oriented programming languages.
Experience developing automation tools and frameworks for performance measurement and analysis.
Soft Skills:Project management expertise
Exhibits mature organization and time management skills.

Excellent technical documentation and communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly and concisely, technical information to non-technical staff, both orally and in writing; prepare clear, detailed instructions

This role can be Remote which would allow most work to be performed at home; however, the Employer is a Federal Contractor and subject to federal vaccination mandate. Employees must be fully vaccinated to come onto any of DSS, Inc’s sites or Client sites.
