Marketing Specialist
Marketing & Communications · Full-time
Miami, FL, USA
USD 50k-60k / year
Wynwood, Miami | In-person Monday–Thursday, remote Friday
Sharp Pen Media is hiring a smart, ambitious Marketing Specialist to help expand our audience, market presence, and client roster.
Sharp Pen works with adtech, martech, media, commerce, data, and adjacent technology companies on high-value marketing and communications programs. Today we have 15–20 clients and a team of 10. We are building an owned marketing and business-development system that turns CEO Joe Zappa’s ideas, content, and relationships into pipeline.
Your job is simple to describe, but difficult to execute well: turn Joe’s thinking into useful content that grows his audience, gets Sharp Pen in front of the right people, and gives our BDRs more ways to develop target accounts into clients.
This is an opportunity to work directly alongside an agency CEO and learn how strategic business ideas translate into market influence. Sharp Pen works with founders and senior executives at high-growth and public technology companies; your work will help create the content that those leaders read, engage with, and use to understand their industry. You’ll learn how to write for billion-dollar company CEOs.
This is not a generic social-media role. You will learn a complicated industry, understand how Joe thinks about it, and turn his calls, voice notes, client conversations, podcast interviews, market observations, and rough ideas into a consistent stream of LinkedIn posts, X posts, newsletters, blogs, and podcast content.
You will work directly alongside Joe and Sharp Pen’s BDRs in our Wynwood office four days per week, Monday through Thursday. The BDRs will use your content to create thoughtful points of contact with target accounts. You will use target-account engagement to assess and improve the content engine.
What you will do
-
Turn Joe’s ideas and language into daily LinkedIn and X content that builds Sharp Pen’s authority in adtech and B2B marketing.
-
Relaunch and grow Sharp Pen’s newsletter and blog, including one substantive newsletter/blog post per week.
-
Improve the production and distribution of The Adtech Growth Podcast through short-form video, social posts, guest amplification, and creative experiments. You should either already be able to create short-form video or back yourself to learn quickly on the job. No one will teach you video; you’ll teach yourself.
-
Track content, audience, website, podcast, and target-account engagement; use the data to recommend what Sharp Pen should do more of, less of, or differently.
-
Identify meaningful engagement from senior people at target companies, explain what content or topic generated it, and flag the signal to the BDRs and Joe. The BDRs will own account research, personalized outreach, Attio tracking, and ongoing commercial nurture.
What success looks like
In your first six months, your goal is to:
-
Establish a reliable content engine: daily social output, a weekly newsletter/blog, and consistent podcast amplification.
-
Grow Joe’s LinkedIn and X audiences, the podcast’s roughly 150 monthly downloads, and the newsletter’s 1,300 subscribers by measurable amounts.
-
Learn which topics, formats, and points of view create meaningful engagement from adtech and marketing leaders.
-
Give the BDRs a steady supply of timely, useful content and account-specific engagement signals that help them develop relationships.
-
Build a repeatable attention-to-pipeline system that creates more qualified contacts, sales conversations, and eventually clients.
You will be measured on writing quality, audience growth, target-account engagement, and the system’s contribution to active opportunities and clients.
What we are looking for
We are not looking for a conventional junior social-media manager. We are looking for someone with unusual intellectual horsepower (like our staff, most of whom studied literature at top 15 schools), strong writing skills, high standards, and the ambition to become excellent at the work faster than most people would.
-
You can understand complicated businesses and turn messy conversations, market developments, and rough ideas into clear, specific, interesting content in someone else’s voice.
-
You are commercially curious: you care not just whether a post is good, but whether it reaches the right people, earns their attention, and helps Sharp Pen create future opportunities.
-
You have real drive. You want responsibility, direct feedback, rapid improvement, and the chance to work closely with a CEO in a demanding, performance-based environment.
-
You are a producer. You can write, edit, organize, learn new tools, and either create short-form video now or back yourself to learn quickly.
-
You are quantitative enough to study results, spot patterns, and improve the system rather than simply producing more content.
You do not need to arrive as an adtech expert. Joe will teach you the business, the market, and how Sharp Pen thinks about strategy. You need to be intensely curious, highly capable, and eager to turn that learning into a visible body of work and measurable commercial impact.
Compensation and location
-
The role begins with a one-month paid contractor trial at a $5,000 monthly full-time rate.
-
After a successful trial, the role converts to full-time employment at a $60,000 annual salary, plus up to $12,000 in variable compensation based on audience growth and influence with target accounts.
-
The full-time role is based in Wynwood, Miami, with in-person work Monday through Thursday and flexibility to work remotely on Fridays when business needs allow.
-
Exceptional candidates currently based outside Miami may complete the trial remotely, but must be willing to relocate to Miami upon full-time conversion. Sharp Pen can discuss modest relocation support for the right candidate.
-
Full-time U.S. employees are eligible for Sharp Pen’s standard benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; and eligibility to participate in the company’s 401(k) plan.
