SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer. The hire will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler using AWS architecture who enjoys optimizing and building data systems from the ground up. The Senior Data Engineer will support our software teams, data analysts, and data scientists on data initiatives, ensure optimal data delivery architecture is shape of data architecture moving into the future.
What you’d be doing:
- Designing and managing the ETL process workflows
- Modeling lake house data in all stages (raw, discovery, curated, and optimized warehouse database schemas)
- Coding transformation logic by writing reusable code and modules
- Developing QA strategies for data ingestion and transformation processes
- Defining and implementing standards for data cleansing and masking
- Working with business users' requirements to deliver data usable across the organization
- Defining and implementing security standards into the data lake.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- 5+ years of Data Lake and Warehouse experience
- Experience with source control and/or CICD pipelines
- Production experience with AWS infrastructure
- Proficiency with Scala, Python, and SQL
- Experience with AWS Glue infrastructure.
- Production experience with DB technologies such as RedShift, SQL Server, Athena, and Postgres
- High volume production experience with AWS architecture such as S3, networking and DB technologies
- Experience in production level warehouse design with high volume near real time ingestion and reporting
- A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets
- Hands-on experience tuning ETL processes and warehouse databases such as RedShift
- The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Developers, QA, Operations, and Security Engineers
Highly preferred candidates also have:
- Insurance industry experience
- AWS Aurora experience
- AWS Data Migration Service experience
- Environment refreshes (data and schema)
