We’re insurance first, tech-forward, growing rapidly, and absolutely committed to our customers. You’re a visual design expert with experience developing design systems and patterns for data and workflows. You'll work closely with design & engineering leadership and contribute to our lively design culture while collaborating with your product and engineering teammates to deliver rich and intelligent solutions to unique problems.

With meaningful experience in Insurance / Insurtech, Fintech, or rich B2B and B2C workflows, you excel in abstraction and uncovering forms in processes and user experiences. While comfortable creating new patterns, you enjoy finding ways to incorporate established patterns in Design.

What you’ll be doing:

• Further developing SageSure’s foundational design system to solve rich and dynamic problems
• Mentoring designers on choosing the right patterns to solve customer problems while adhering to visual design conventions
• Sharing best practices and thinking from top practitioners
• Contributing to a culture of efficiency by designing universal experiences that teams can leverage across the ecosystem (authentication, new user onboarding, search, navigation, settings, notifications, messaging, and common workflows)
• Building a strong culture of design within the team, digital product organization, and at the company
• Advocating for design system integration, pattern-oriented design, and reporting on the value proposition of rationalized design work
• Collaborating with product managers, engineers, and other designers—from brainstorming to implementation—and facilitating collaboration among relevant parties
• Devising strategies to increase clarity, coherence, and consistency in design across a variety of customer-facing web applications
• Facilitating conversations on improving product features through abstraction and the use of patterns
• Building accessibility into all of our apps
• Communicating the rationale behind the intentions, decisions, and goals of proposed design solutions while incorporating constructive feedback through design iterations

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Experience developing design systems and collaborating with front end engineering, designers, and product managers
• Experience abstracting designs for specific use-cases into broad, reusable patterns across multiple software products
• A deep appreciation of heuristics and best practices in interaction design and visual design
• Facility in working with data heavy but whitespace respecting patterns, and experience discovering, designing, and advocating for meaningful digital service experiences that meet strategic customer and business needs
• A demonstrable grasp of usability & accessibility
• Experience mentoring designers on visual design, pattern selection, etc.
• Experience measuring, reporting on, and advancing the value proposition of design systems
• Experience creating artifacts that illustrate complex workflows in order to define problems and find solutions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain evidence-based design decisions for review and implementation by teammates
• Strong attention to detail, including language, patterns, visual design, etc.
• A portfolio that tells a story of problem solving with quality visual designs showcasing your eye for detail; clear and thoughtful writing; thoughtful discovery practices; etc.
• Expert command over the tools used across the whole Design System lifecycle

Highly preferred candidates also have:

• Experience in Insurance / Insurtech / Fintech / rich B-to-B-to-C applications.
• Demonstrable capacity for subject matter expertise and understanding of the needs of industry experts as they deliver the best experiences for our customers and our business
• A proven track record advocating for and growing design mindsets and team culture within organizations
• Proficiency working with a fully remote team
