The Royal Caribbean Group’s Information Technology Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Engineering Manager reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager.

The position is onsite and based in Miramar, Florida.

The position is also not eligible for work authorization sponsorship.

Position Summary

The Engineering Manager leads a software engineering team within the Shipboard Engineering division, focusing on people leadership, technical execution, and delivery excellence. This role is accountable for building and developing a high-performing team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement, and partnering closely with Product Management and cross-functional stakeholders to align engineering execution with business objectives. The Engineering Manager ensures the successful development and ongoing support of high-quality shipboard software products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Builds, leads, and mentors a software engineering team to foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and high performance.

Provides technical leadership and guidance to ensure the development of robust, scalable, and reliable shipboard software solutions.

Collaborates with Product Management to understand product vision and translate requirements into a clear technical execution plan.

Partners with external teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and alignment of engineering efforts.

Establishes and reinforces best practices for the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.

Ensures the stability, performance, and quality of shipboard engineering products and services owned by the team.

Plans and allocates engineering resources effectively to meet delivery timelines, quality standards, and team objectives.

Drives continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and delivery methodologies.

Manages assigned IT, labor, and non-labor budget components at the team level.

Supports forecasting, capacity planning, and vendor coordination in partnership with senior engineering leadership.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

6–8+ years of progressive experience in software development, including hands-on engineering delivery.

2–4+ years of experience leading or managing software engineering teams.

Experience building, coaching, and retaining high-performing engineering teams.

Experience contributing to labor and non-labor budget planning.

Strong experience developing, deploying, and supporting complex, large-scale software applications.

Experience executing technical roadmaps and managing delivery commitments.

Solid understanding of modern solution architecture, including cloud-based, microservices, and event-driven systems.

Technical experience with tools and technologies such as Kafka, NoSQL, Java, Spring Boot, React, Node.js, and DevOps platforms.

Solid understanding of operational technologies including Apigee, containerization, and AWS.

Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle and modern engineering methodologies.

Demonstrated ability to build, inspire, and lead high-performing engineering teams.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Data-driven leader with a passion for technology, quality, and delivery outcomes.

Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
