Royal Caribbean Group’s Global Marine Operations Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Manager, Power Plant Services reporting to the AVP, Global Marine Technical Engineering Services.

This position will work onsite in Miami, Florida

Position Summary:

In this position, you would be a subject matter expert responsible for overseeing power plant overall performance, main engine overhaul schedules and forecasts, organizing overhauls, and creating budgets for power plants. This role plays a pivotal role within the Global Marine Operations department, ensuring the seamless and reliable power plant operation across the fleet. This position is crucial in driving performance and strategic initiatives that align with the broader goals of the organization. Proactively plans, coordinates, and drives initiatives to improve the efficiency and safety. Maintains strong collaborations with ship engineering teams, Marine Operations and New Building teams ensuring transparency, sharing lessons learned and contributing to the overall success of our operations. Communicates power plant status to shore side team/ executive leadership on a regular basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance engine performance monitoring and reliability.
  • Lead and Manage engine-related projects, fostering collaboration across various teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Lead and manage main engine overhauls, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Investigate damages and root causes of engine failures, providing actionable insights for improvement.
  • Manage budgetary considerations for power plant services, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Provide newbuilding support, collaborating with engineering teams to ensure optimal design and functionality.
  • Oversee sea-trials, ensuring all power plants systems operate efficiently and meet performance expectations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, offering guidance and support to the diesel engine and power plant related matters.
  • Strategize and develop training programs to enhance team capabilities and knowledge in power plant services.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and strategic efficiency gains within power plant operations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of up-to-date technical research and relevant projects, evaluate new technology for use onboard, and oversee the running of test programs on such equipment together with ships personnel.
  • Responsible for creation and managing the ships engines overhaul and routine repairs budget for all Brands in RCG.

  • Participates in the preparation of annual operational and capital budget.

  • Review in detail the anticipated needs of the assigned vessels with full consideration for unique opportunities, maintenance intervals and other factors which may have specific impact on the anticipated funding.

  • Assists the Ship Managers in the guarantee process with New Build / Yard through to completion for any assigned vessels introduced into the RCI fleet.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 12+ years cruise ship experience and 12+ years diesel engine installation commissioning experience (including marine and power plant).
  • In-depth knowledge of marine power plant systems and engine performance monitoring techniques.
  • Proven track record in managing main engine overhauls and related projects.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a focus on reliability and safety.
  • Ability to manage the financial aspects of the assigned function, including the successful identification of expense reduction through cost efficiencies.
