Royal Caribbean Group’s Risk Management Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager, Risk Management Med Network & Fin reporting to the AVP, Crew Health & Med Case Mg.

Position Summary

This position leads development and maintenance of a quality and cost-efficient global provider network that ensures proper, prompt and adequate access to care for RCG crew members.S/he will partner closely with the Risk Management and Medical Operations executive team to develop and actualize a comprehensive global network strategy and solutions. The incumbent will also support the Risk Management financial objectives and ensure compliance with GAAP and overall corporate policies and procedures, including Sarbanes Oxley.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates health care fees, executes provider contracts and analyzes effectiveness of these, based on usual and customary international and domestic trends.
  • Develops and implements monitoring, analysis and reporting of utilization, cost and quality trends for providers in all ports of call and recruitment countries.
  • Manages the contracting of providers and/or medical networks including negotiating special financial terms as required.
  • Manages the analysis of the current performance of our medical networks to ascertain the financial and operational performance of each; make recommendations on how to optimize performance, ensuring high quality, cost effective, geographically appropriate networks across all healthcare services.
  • Negotiates healthcare-related logistics fees (transportation, lodging and meals, etc.), executes vendor contracts and analyzes effectiveness of these, based on usual and customary international and domestic trends.
  • Works with Finance, Port Operations, CAM and other internal stakeholders as needed to ensure all provider/vendor contracts are compliant with internal systems, processes and regulatory oversight requirements.
  • Together with our Risk Management Executive team, create and manage a comprehensive, global network solution for Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD.

  • Provides leadership and acts as primary liaison with third party administrator, brokers/underwriters and outside consultants.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Supports and reports on an annual claims and insurance budget of $200M.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in Business, Accounting, Health Services Administration (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of overall relevant experience, provider contracting, health plan operations preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley technical literature (PCAOB, SEC Guidance, etc.), internal control concepts and techniques.
  • Experience with global/international operations/organization a plus.
  • Associate member of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) a plus
  • Limited travel expected, however, must be able to travel up to 25-300% of the time, including trips abroad
  • Project Management experience with complex and long-term projects
  • Ability to develop presentations and effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors
  • Understanding of actuarial methods and calculations
  • Process oriented and able to lead and affect process change and improvements
  • Self-motivated, adaptive, proactive, quick learner, and work well with others with minimum supervision, in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong technical, analytic, problem solving and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail, yet maintain a big-picture point of view
  • Excellent PC skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
