The Royal Caribbean Group has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager, Business Process Optimization reporting to the AVP, Global Marine Operations Strategy.

This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida

As the Business Process Optimization (BPO) Manager, Marine Technical Operations, you will play a critical role in driving strategic initiatives that enhance the performance of our Global Marine Technical Operations Team.

The BPO Manager will play a critical role in analyzing, designing, and implementing efficient business processes that enhance productivity and reduce costs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements.

In this role, you’ll work closely with senior leadership across Marine Technical Operations, Global Marine Operations, Safety, Decarbonization and other key functions to ensure that our processes run seamlessly and efficiently. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering key objectives while identifying new opportunities for operational improvements and growth.

You will partner with Marine Technical leadership to develop comprehensive strategies and planning documents that drive operational excellence, improve technical operations, and enhance fleet readiness. This role is more than just managing technical processes—it’s about being a change leader, solving new and old challenges, and guiding cross-functional teams toward operational improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Charge: Drive the development of forward-thinking, multi-year strategies that fuel growth and optimize cost management across Marine Technical Operations.
  • Innovate and Elevate: Spearhead initiatives, streamline processes, enhance performance, and continuously improve the fleet’s success.
  • Analyze and Change: Existing business and operational processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement: Process optimization strategies together with key stakeholders in Marine Technical Operations that align with organizational goals.
  • Drive insights: Utilize data analysis and process mapping tools to visualize workflows and identify bottlenecks.
  • Design and document: Optimized processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Training the team: Conduct training sessions for staff on the ships and shoreside on new processes and best practices.
  • Monitor and Measure: The effectiveness of implemented changes through key performance indicators (KPIs) and leading indicators across Marine Technical Operations.
  • Continuous learning: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in process optimization and business analysis.
  • Collaborate and Conquer: With stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business needs and lead cross-functional teams to deliver special projects that align initiatives across departments, ensuring seamless execution and impactful results.
  • Solve Problems: Develop and implement action plans based on fleet performance, ensuring we’re always one step ahead in solving challenges and maximizing opportunities.
  • Master Communicator: Lead strategic communications between technical operations and the fleet, ensuring clarity and alignment.
  • Change Agent: Take on additional responsibilities as needed, ensuring flexibility in driving marine operations forward under the direction of the AVP GMO Strategy, SVP Marine Operations, or other senior leadership.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, finance, marketing, engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a business management role, ideally in the travel or leisure industry
  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams, with a track record of driving successful initiatives and managing complex projects.
  • Strategic Thinker: Able to see the big picture while diving into the details to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Process Professional: Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) and proficiency in process mapping and analysis tools
  • Creative Storyteller: Deliver technical and operational insights into clear, impactful and visually engaging presentations.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial principles with analytical skills to evaluate technical operations and drive profitability.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels across global teams.
  • Problem Solver: Ability to think critically, identify root causes, and provide practical solutions in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
  • Proactive & Agile: Highly adaptable, taking initiative to solve problems and improve processes while thriving in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Industry Expertise: Knowledge of macroeconomic conditions and global trends, with an understanding of their impact on the cruise industry.
