The Royal Caribbean Group’s Data & Analytics team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Engineer, Data Platform reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Data & Analytics Platforms

This position will work on-site in Miramar, Florida.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. Engineer is responsible for the design, development, operation, and maintenance of computer systems and software applications, operating both in the cloud (primarily Azure platform) and on- premises for the data team product. They develop the architecture for the platform/infrastructure behind the products that helps analyze and process data in the way the organization needs it, making sure those systems are resilient, highly available and performing smoothly. The Sr. Engineer uses technical knowledge to solve business problems, by means of a systematic and disciplined approach, employing software, hardware, and/or communication technologies to accomplish assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture

• Maintain and support data pipelines from disparate sources that meet functional / non-functional business requirements

• Gathers requirements from platform stakeholders

• Participates in ETL platform modernization and cloud migration efforts. Verify and validate ETL deliverables.

• Installing and administering Data Integration Tools which include Informatica Power Center, Data Quality, Talend and ADF platforms, etc.

• Support existing ETL processes, employing a variety of data integration and data preparation tools.

• Create SOPs and administration guidelines for performance tuning, and security and administration of the applications.

• Participates in capacity planning to ensure Informatica & Talend environments are adequately sized and configured to meet current and projected demand.

• Create and run performance tests on all Data Integration solutions while optimizing processes

• Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture, Data Engineering and Data Solutions teams to ensure alignment on data standards and processes

• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

• Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and cloud big data technologies.

• Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics

• Identifying areas for improvement in current systems

• Create systems to keep data secure

• Coordinate with other team members to reach project milestones and deadlines

• Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs

• Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader

• Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in data systems

• Constantly looking to automate their workloads and striving to provide more timely, accurate, complete business analytics

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in area of specialty

• 5+ years of experience in a data/cloud engineering role

• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases

• Experience with cloud services/providers: AWS, Azure, etc.

• Experience with a scripting language: Python, R, etc.

• Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures and data sets

• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement

• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets

• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management

• Strong project management and organizational skills

• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Knowledge of computer science or engineering technical concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field

• Able to communicate and implement technical solutions

• Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers

• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to assist and guide junior staff as necessary

• Demonstrate a certain degree of creativity with analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong with methodologies, tools, best practices and processes within specific area of responsibility
