The Royal Caribbean Group’s Data Analytics and AI team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Data Product Portfolio Owner reporting to the Senior Director, Data Product Engineering.
Position Summary:
The Data Product Portfolio Owner position is responsible for educating, coaching, and supporting teams in adopting agile principles and practices in support of Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence (DA2I) current and future initiatives by developing and maintaining a Portfolio and Project Management governance framework and policies to ensure the effective delivery, management, and oversight of DA2I investments. This role plays a critical role in fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and adaptability to enhance Royal Caribbean Group’s (RCG) ability to deliver value to our customers and impact to our business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage DA2I project portfolio, ensuring alignment to programs and with Business, DA2I and other stakeholders strategic initiatives and objectives.
- Monitor and report on the overall portfolio performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Develop, implement best practices and manage standard Agile practices over DA2I initiatives and projects.
- Develop agile coaching strategy, outline approach for scaling adoption.
- Provide guidance and training to product teams on Agile Frameworks
- Leads, facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
- Create project/sprint plans, release trackers, and Kanban boards
- Develop and track KPIs and help teams deliver high-quality products/solutions on time.
- Utilize program management tools and best practices to lead, develop and oversee project scope, and ensure customer and stakeholder expectations of DA2I projects are met.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop, maintain, and direct implementation of product roadmaps across entire organization and business units, including prioritization of features and determining what should be included in each release.
- Partner with Product Management to ensure a healthy program roadmap, backlog, and budgeting to fostering a value-driven approach to product development
- Manage projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the organization, including assisting project management with the following:
- Resource planning
- Onboard assistance
- Communicate meeting notes, action plans, outcomes, and facilitation of follow up
- Status reports
- Design new methods for enhancing organizational agility.
- Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
- Mentor and coach other scrum masters
Financial Responsibilities:
- Perform financial duties and projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the organization, including assisting project management with the following:
- Budgeting,
- Forecasting,
- Resource planning
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of product or project development experience on an Agile Team or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 8-10 years titled project management or program management with demonstrated ability to build and nurture internal partnership, aligning on common goals and producing a successful outcome.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques
- CSM, A-CSM, CSP certification a plus
Knowledge & Skills:
- Extensive experience with JIRA or other project management tools
- Extensive experience with Confluence or similar
- Proficient in MS Office Suite including intermediate Excel, Power BI for Reporting
- Extensive experience managing large complex projects
- Extensive knowledge of Agile principles and practices and the ability to transfer that understanding into practical and relevant behaviors, culture, practices, at all levels of the organization consistently.
- Extensive knowledge of agile framework(s) or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices
- Expertise with:
- Backlog refinement and relative estimating (e.g., story pointing)
- Release planning and risk management
- Sprint planning Scrum metrics such as burndowns, release burnup, velocity, etc.
- Sprint review best practices, techniques, refinement, story splitting, estimation
- A variety of retrospective technique
- Strategic problem solving and decision-making ability
- Strong communication skills (written, listening and speaking)
- Detail oriented, organized, strong problem-solving skills and collaboration across teams, functions and organizations
- Ability to effectively manage conflict
- Passion and enthusiasm for results and success
