Position Summary

This position provides support and assists in the planning, purchasing, evaluating and managing of all aspects of the Company’s worldwide insurance program, which includes insuring over $30Bn worth of ship and shore-based assets. This individual will serve as a liaison between multiple departments within the company and from time-to-time will also interact with international insurance brokers who help place insurance coverage for the Company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Insurance

  1. Serve as a liaison between multiple departments to collect and obtain exposure information, required for various policy renewals and audits.
  2. Update electronic and physical files and/or documentation as necessary.
  3. Request certificates of insurance, memorandum of insurance and confirmations of coverage documentation from insurance brokers.
  4. Administer vessel insurance documentation as required.
  5. Assist with the preparation and processing of insurance claims.

Finance

  1. Responsible for reviewing, coding, and creating purchase orders to process invoices in a timely manner.
  2. Prepare reports to meet month-end accounting deadlines and investigate and communicate variance analyses.
  3. Assist in updating the insurance budget, forecast, and bridge changes between versions.
  4. Monitor the wire transfer report and prepare journal entries to facilitate recording of the insurance related transfers.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, finance, or business from an accredited University required.
  • Two to five years of related insurance analysis or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and comfortable interacting effectively with various levels of management.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, adaptive, proactive, quick learner, and works well independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is essential (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, etc.).
  • Experience with Tungsten, JD Edwards, Hyperion EPM preferred.
  • Limited travel expected.
