RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process all coordination and management of Workers’ Compensation, General Liability and Property damage claims to obtain favorable outcomes.
  • Work directly with employees, carriers, guests and insurance companies in processing Workers’ Compensation and General Liability claims.
  • Manage return to work program. Ensure all facets of this program are done.
  • Daily contact with claims adjusters at insurance carriers and third-party administrators (TPA)
  • Understand the differences in work comp laws in separate states that Carrols operates in.
  • Must be able to decipher medical information, treatment and action plans to determine appropriateness.
  • Prepare necessary documentation required to process Workers’ Compensation claims required by State’s Workers’ Compensation Boards, including out of work slips, wage statements, updating home address and phone numbers and medical reports.
  • Prepare and attend Liberty Mutual claims reviews. Occasional travel required.
  • Process self-insured property damage claims to collect monies from insurance company or liable party.
  • Must be able to monitor reserves set by claims representatives, know if appropriate and negotiate a reasonable dollar amount.
  • Assist Health & Safety to identify safety hazards and communicate such to responsible parties to prevent future incidents.
  • Responsible for the status and maintenance of the Workers’ Compensation, General Liability and Property Damage claims.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Two-year degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2 plus years Insurance Claims experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Must be able to perceive and react to the needs of others.
  • Must be organized, flexible and able to deal with various personalities.
  • Must be able to maintain a degree of confidentiality.
  • Must be detail oriented when gathering information pertinent to all incoming incidents.
  • Must be a creative thinker and independent decision maker according to each situation that arises.
  • Must be able to give direction to callers involved with a Claim.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and other related software
  • Web-based database (SharePoint, Vantage Port, viaONE, RiskTrac
  • PeopleSoft and/or Workday

Pay & Location:
The salary range is $27.50 - $28.00 per hour, depending on the candidate’s work experience. This role is based in Syracuse, NY.
