About the Role

Peeple is an early-stage, founder-led technology company building a large-scale consumer platform in the media and culture space. Product vision, brand, and UX are already well developed, with top-tier external design partners engaged. The founders are serial entrepreneurs who have started, built, and exited $1B+ public companies.

We are seeking a Founding Lead Engineer to architect, build, and scale our core technology from the ground up.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced engineer who wants real ownership—technical, architectural, and strategic—at the earliest stage of a company with significant growth ambitions.

You will work directly with the Founders and external design partners, and you will play a central role in shaping the product, infrastructure, and future engineering team.

Responsibilities

· Own the end-to-end technical architecture of the Peeple platform (web and mobile)
· Lead the initial build and launch of the product, from MVP through early scale
· Make key decisions on technology stack, infrastructure, and development methodology
· Translate product and UX designs into high-quality, scalable implementations
· Ensure strong standards for performance, security, reliability, and maintainability
· Manage and coordinate external developers or vendors as needed
· Establish engineering best practices, documentation, and workflows
· Prepare the platform for future growth, including hiring and mentoring additional engineers
· Act as the technical voice in strategic discussions with leadership

Qualifications

· Prior experience as a defining role at an early-stage company
· Strong full-stack, cross-platform experience
· Experience with prod cloud infra
· Strong judgment and comfort making architectural decisions with imperfect information
· Excellent communication skills and a high level of autonomy
· Experience working remotely and managing async collaboration
· Has shipped large B2C applications
