OpenStore is reimagining the future of e-commerce. Leveraging technology and our expertise in operating the most Shopify stores in the world, we acquire stores and offer managed services to Shopify entrepreneurs. In doing so, we’ve provided millions of dollars to entrepreneurs all over the country, helping them turn their stores into passive income and freeing up their time to start something new.

In the near future, we’re bringing spontaneous discovery to online shopping through a consumer marketplace. Our company was started in 2021 by top investor and operator, Keith Rabois, and is backed with $150M+ from investors such as Atomic, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures and Lux Capital.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

OpenStore is building a world class Consumer Growth team and is looking for a builder who has deep SEO experience to lead the company’s SEO strategy and operations. We have a unique model, where we operate dozens of individual DTC brands, each of which has its own website. The SEO Lead will develop an SEO playbook that can be applied to all of these sites, manage the implementation of this playbook across priority sites, and partner with the Engineering and Storefronts teams to develop processes, systems and tools that allow for scalable investment in content & authority.

This is a very senior IC role with a potential to hire a small team based on demonstrated impact. First, we must stand up the function and initial strategy, and deliver impressive results with focused investments and resources.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Own channel results, actions, roadmap, strategy, and prioritization

  • Develop a programmatic SEO strategy and content working closely with engineering team

  • Lead keyword analysis and traditional content creation

  • Manage technical components of SEO to drive domain authority

  • Partner with the Engineering, Data Science and Consumer Growth teams to develop scalable mechanisms for growing organic traffic and sales across dozens of sites (e.g. reviews/UGC content generation, cross-portfolio analytics, content monetization)

  • Serve as the company’s resident SEO expert, weighing in on technology decisions, brand acquisition reviews and changes in the external environment

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You thrive in fast-paced environments. At this stage we’re still learning. You will iterate with engineers, analysts and product managers to focus on high impact work.

  • You’ve done it before. You’ve kick-started an SEO strategy before and led SEO efforts through a phase of rapid growth. You’ve made mistakes, learned lessons and are excited to do it again. Your experience will help us avoid pitfalls and move faster.

  • You are strategic. You’re focused on where you’re going and build the strategies and plans to achieve the goal. You’re not afraid to admit something didn’t work and have backup plans brewing for your next test.

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • You have 8+ years of professional experience with a track record of escalating impact and responsibility

  • You have 5+ years of SEO experience at one or several consumer brands, marketplaces or retailers

  • You are comfortable working with internal teams and external resources, serving as the primary facilitator of a multi-threaded strategy

  • Demonstrated experience with the following tools:

    • Technical SEO Tools, e.g. Screaming Frog, Lumar (Deepcrawl), Oncrawl, Botify

    • General SEO Tool, e.g. Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Brightedge.

    • Data Manipulation Tools, e.g. Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, SQL

    • Data Visualization Tool, e.g. Mode, Snowflake, Tableau
