The Role: Sr. Manager of Mechanical Engineering

The Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering is responsible for managing an engineering

group to design and maintain products involving complex electromechanical systems and associated accessories.


What you’ll do:
  • Designing, developing, and enhancing electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices
  • Creating automated systems and the software to control them
  • Developing design documents for mechanical parts and products
  • Understanding problems or client briefs and developing solutions that satisfy them
  • Selecting the required tools and materials for the manufacturing process
  • Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and training of Engineers within the team
  • Attending workshops, training sessions, and conferences to network with others and stay on top of field advancements
  • Leading the design and development of revolutionary robotic surgical systems
  • Executing product characterizations, verifications, and validations
  • Participating in cross-departmental collaboration for project development and mark introduction of new products
  • Coordinating with suppliers to procure both off-the-shelf and custom designed electro mechanical components
  • Documenting product development activities through engineering notebooks, drawings, and protocol testing reports
  • Understanding and following applicable quality and safety procedures per regulatory standards and internal procedures
What you’ll bring:
  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and creative thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and lead a team (3 years experience leading a team required)
  • Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
  • Experience with design for sterility, and cleaning in medical devices prefered
  • Strong understanding of currently available robotic components, including motors and
  • encoders
  • Proficient with design for manufacturing and materials choices
  • Experience with documenting and testing electro-mechanical systems
  • Team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with medical devices preferred
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations preferred
  • Start-up experience preferred
What else?
  • This is a full-time position. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.
  • This position manages the Mechanical Engineering team at Neocis. This position’s

    responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; developing and promoting employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • The position will require up to 10% travel
  • The main location of this role is in a manufacturing/clinical environment and requires:
    • This position requires the regular use of CMMs and machining equipment, and occasional use of CBCT scanners
    • Prolonged periods working on a computer.
    • Ability to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds.
    • Frequent exposure to moderate noise
