Trade Support Specialist

Millennium is seeking a driven and detail-oriented operations specialist to join our Operations team. This position will offer exposure to various markets and the opportunity to work between several teams globally in the firm as well as directly with portfolio managers and our Prime Brokers. The successful candidate will have the initiative to seek out opportunities to work on strategic projects and be able to manage them through completion, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency. They will also be on a small team with broad product exposure to various bond products, including domestic and other non-dollar and emerging markets.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Handle complete trade life cycle for a number of key products including US Treasuries and corporate bonds, mortgage securities, foreign government and corporate bonds and repo trades
  • Manage settlements both internally and at Prime Brokers with an awareness of time sensitive deadlines at the Fed and DTC
  • Daily liaison with custodian banks, front and middle office at Millennium, counterparties, and other internal divisions with regards to trade confirmation, fails, corporate actions, and other related queries
  • Cash/Positions/Trade activity reconciliations - daily resolution of assigned breaks.
  • Intraday cash management related to trade settlements with Prime Brokers.
  • Monthly P&I processing and resolution of issues versus agent banks

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Experience with both agency and non-agency mortgage backed securities is strongly desired including TBAs, stipulated TBAs, pools, CMOs, and CMBS. Knowledge of the TBA net out process as well as pool allocation and strong understanding of FICC processes and standards is preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in a business related discipline (finance, economics, accounting, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with PM’s and brokers
  • Five to seven years of experience at a financial services firm
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Well- organized, detail- oriented; able to multi-task and keep track of various deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
