Miami Waterkeeper (MWK) is an award-winning non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Biscayne Bay and the surrounding watershed. POSITION SUMMARY

Miami Waterkeeper is a champion for clean water solutions in South Florida. As Miami Waterkeeper's Senior Marketing Coordinator, and with 2-5 years of experience, you'll create engaging and performant content by drawing on your ability to switch between technical and creative styles, while maintaining Associated Press (AP) standards.

Reporting to the UX/UI Manager, you'll collaborate cross-functionally to promote our mission of protecting South Florida's waters through science-based advocacy, a data-driven mindset to create engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences and drives measurable results.

Reporting to the UX/UI Manager, you'll collaborate cross-functionally to enhance MWK's public image and promote our mission of protecting South Florida's waters through science-based advocacy. With 2-5 years of relevant experience, you’ll have a data-driven mindset to create engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences and drives measurable results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation & Copywriting (~40%)

  1. Gather stories and develop mission-aligned content across all content pillars including: Brand; Programs; Science & Research; Policy & Advocacy; Education & Outreach; and Development
  2. Write clear, engaging copy for all digital and traditional marketing channels, including website, social media, email, advertising, press releases, newsletter, and collateral, adhering to AP style guidelines
  3. Create SEO-optimized website content that improves visibility and drives engagement
  4. With the UX/UI Manager, create multilingual content (with a focus on Spanish and Haitian Creole translations)
  5. Plan and manage MWK’s content calendar, independently producing and publishing 20+ pieces of social content monthly
  6. Attend MWK and industry events to produce and share content/stories, including capturing original photography/videography as needed

Social Media Management (~30%)

  1. Develop and maintain the social media calendar: schedule and execute campaigns across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, Vimeo, Zapier and Buffer
  2. Identify, evaluate, and implement platform-specific strategies
  3. Identify and collaborate with community leaders / influencers / partners to expand reach
  4. Respond to 95% of community comments within 24 hours
  5. Manage paid social campaigns, including budget, audience outreach, and ROI analysis
  6. Track and report monthly on key social media metrics including follower growth, engagement rates, amplification rates, reach, mentions, trends, ROI, and average value equivalency

Email & eNewsletters (~15%)

  1. ​​Design and disseminate email marketing campaigns—from content creation, segmentation, and KPI setting—through to pre-send testing (device, browser and WCAG testing)
  2. Support the growth of the addressable marketing database, contribute to list hygiene
  3. Maintain average email open rates above 30% and click-through rates of 2-3%
  4. Provide monthly email performance reports and implement data-driven improvements to email templates, content strategy, and deployment schedules (including A/B testing)

Media Relations / PR (~10%)

  1. Draft press releases, media pitches, and other materials to generate positive coverage
  2. Monitor newswires/feeds, including Meltwater, for trends and opportunities for engagement
  3. Field media interviews, press conferences, and media contacts and events, as required
  4. Assist with developing, delivering and educating the team on brand and campaign messaging
  5. Track media mentions and analyze and report monthly [Meltwater], on the performance of PR efforts, including reach (audience size), total mentions, outlets, media type and more

General Marketing Communications (~5%)

  1. Contribute to website content, copy writing and copy editing
  2. Assist with the development of marketing collateral and campaign materials including one-pagers, brochures, annual report, scorecards, pull-up banners, etc.
  3. Provide design support for digital assets and marketing materials
  4. Utilize data and analytics tools (including Google Analytics and Google Search Console) to measure the success of media relations and social media campaigns; provide actionable insights
  5. Oversee the structure and nomenclature of digital repositories, such as Dropbox

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  1. A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Journalism (with a focus on Digital Media), Media Management or equivalent experience
  2. 2-5 years professional experience, specifically with demonstrated social media experience
  3. Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  4. Proficiency with social media platforms and analytics tools
  5. Experience with email marketing platforms and basic HTML and/or CSS
  6. Basic design skills: Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch or similar tools
  7. Passion for environmental issues and Miami Waterkeeper's mission
  8. Project management skills and exposure to project management tools and methodologies (e.g. ClickUp, Asana, Sheets; and Agile)

Desirable

  1. Experience in the non-profit or environmental sector, science communications or translating technical information into easy-to-understand formats for the public
  2. Bilingual in English and Spanish, or English and Haitian Creole
  3. Exposure to content management systems and customer relationship management databases
  4. Knowledge of SEO best practices
