POSITION / TITLE:
Sr SRE Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are hiring a Sr SRE Engineer with at least 10 years of experience to manage and maintain infrastructure in federal government environments. This role requires direct access to government systems and classified platforms. The candidate must be a US citizen and meet all federal compliance and security requirements.

LOCATION:
Orlando, Florida (onsite 5 days per week)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the architecture, design, and governance of CI/CD pipelines across multiple federal programs and delivery teams.
- Own the strategy and operations of federal cloud infrastructure across AWS GovCloud and Azure Government, setting standards for reliability, performance, and cost control.
- Define and drive the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) roadmap using Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation, and mentor junior engineers on best practices.
- Serve as the technical authority on FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, FISMA, and DISA STIG compliance, and lead control implementation across all systems.
- Establish and manage incident response frameworks, SLAs, and on-call runbooks for production federal environments.
- Partner with security teams to lead threat modeling, vulnerability remediation, and zero trust architecture planning across federal programs.
- Drive automation strategies for configuration management, environment provisioning, and platform self-service across engineering teams.
- Architect and oversee containerized workloads on Kubernetes and Docker in secure, air-gapped, and limited-connectivity federal environments.
- Own and maintain system architecture documentation, compliance artifacts, and ATO evidence packages for federal audits.
- Lead Authority to Operate (ATO) engagements, coordinating with ISSOs, ISSMs, and auditors to maintain continuous compliance.
- Act as the senior technical liaison between DevOps, development, security, and program management teams to align delivery with federal mission objectives.
- Set and enforce coding standards, conduct architecture reviews, and provide technical guidance to mid-level and junior DevOps engineers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or infrastructure engineering role.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience working within federal government or DoD environments.
- Proven track record of managing production systems with high availability and strict compliance requirements.
Cloud Platforms
- AWS GovCloud: EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, and Security Hub.
- Azure Government: Virtual Machines, Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor, Key Vault, and Policy.
- Experience with FedRAMP-authorized cloud services and their compliance boundaries.
CI/CD and Automation
- Proficiency with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps Pipelines.
- Strong experience writing and maintaining pipelines for build, test, and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with artifact management tools such as Nexus or JFrog Artifactory.
- Scripting experience in Bash, Python, or PowerShell for task automation.
Infrastructure as Code
- Hands-on experience with Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
- Working knowledge of Ansible for configuration management and server provisioning.
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation or Azure ARM/Bicep templates.
Containers and Orchestration
- Strong knowledge of Docker: image creation, optimization, and multi-stage builds.
- Experience managing Kubernetes clusters, including deployment, scaling, networking, and RBAC.
- Familiarity with Helm charts for application deployment management.
- Experience with OpenShift or EKS/AKS in government or regulated environments is a plus.
Networking & Security
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Experience in configuring and managing Zero Trust network architectures.
- Knowledge of TLS/SSL certificates, PKI, and secrets management using Vault or AWS Secrets Manager.
- Ability to implement and document security controls in line with NIST 800-53 and DISA STIGs.
Monitoring and Observability
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog for metrics collection and dashboards.
- Proficiency with ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) or Splunk for log management.
- Ability to set up alerting, on-call runbooks, and incident response workflows.
Version Control and Collaboration
- Strong proficiency with Git: branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews.
- Experience with GitOps methodologies using tools like ArgoCD or Flux.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira or Azure Boards.
Operating Systems
- Deep knowledge of Linux administration: RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or Amazon Linux 2.
- Experience hardening Linux systems per CIS benchmarks and DISA STIGs.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server administration where required by project needs.
Database and Storage
- Experience managing MySQL databases in cloud environments.
- Knowledge of backup strategies, replication, and disaster recovery for databases.
- Familiarity with object storage, EBS volumes, and EFS in federal cloud contexts.
- Experience with MongoDB for managing NoSQL document databases in scalable, distributed environments.
- Hands-on experience with RabbitMQ for message brokering, queue management, and event-driven architecture.
- Proficiency with Node.js for building and deploying server-side applications as part of the Kore stack.
- Experience with Redis for in-memory caching, session management, and pub/sub messaging patterns.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active security clearance (Secret or higher) is a strong plus.
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent certification.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 baseline certification.
- Experience with DevSecOps practices and integrating security scanning into pipelines (SAST, DAST, SCA).
- Familiarity with OSCAL and automated compliance tooling for continuous ATO processes.
- Experience with Packer for building hardened machine images.
- Experience with Voice systems (e.g., IVR platforms, VoIP, speech recognition, or voice-enabled federal applications) is an additional plus.
Education
- Graduate in Engineering OR Masters in Computer Applications (MCA).

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by the program.
- Must comply with all federal information security and privacy policies.
