Summary:
An eCommerce D2C company is looking for an experienced Director of Technology to join its team. This position plays a crucial role in the company’s growth, focusing on developing and executing a technology strategy that aligns with overall business objectives. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining technical excellence, driving innovation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the technology team.
Working closely with multiple departments, the Director of Technology will help ensure the successful delivery of cross-functional projects on time and within scope, ultimately enhancing customer acquisition and experience. The ideal candidate is a seasoned technology leader with a strong background in eCommerce, performance marketing data, web development, and cloud infrastructure. They should possess exceptional leadership and team management skills, along with a deep understanding of eCommerce platforms and marketing technologies. Their ability to oversee digital projects, integrate new technologies, and align technical strategy with business goals will be essential to the company’s success.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with overall business objectives.
- Oversee project execution, ensuring high technical standards, scalability, and optimized conversion across all digital solutions.
- Lead, mentor, and expand the technical team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Work closely with Executive and Director teams, particularly in customer experience, operations, and acquisition and retention marketing, to ensure projects are cross-functional and delivered on time and within scope.
- Drive the implementation of emerging technologies, data-driven strategies, and methodologies to enhance customer acquisition and service capabilities.
- Manage the architecture and development of technical solutions, including eCommerce platforms, landing pages, checkout systems, web development, mobile applications, third-party APIs, email and SMS platforms, cloud infrastructure, and generative AI initiatives.
- Oversee the seamless integration of third-party tools and systems, such as CMS, CRM, and eCommerce platforms.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) to maintain the integrity and protection of client information.
- Evaluate technology performance and implement enhancements to improve efficiency, functionality, and key eCommerce metrics.
- Oversee the technology budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation to maximize return on investment.
- Develop and lead strategies for data engineering, modeling, and governance to support business objectives.
- Cultivate strong collaboration between technical, creative, and account teams to drive innovation and deliver top-tier digital solutions.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as a CTO, Technical Director, or senior technology leader within a digital agency, consulting firm, or Direct-to-Consumer brand.
- Extensive knowledge of eCommerce and performance marketing data, along with key industry KPIs.
- Strong expertise in web development, SQL, JavaScript frameworks, APIs, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Redshift).
- Hands-on experience with data layer event solutions such as Rudderstack.
- In-depth understanding of eCommerce platforms, CMS tools, and marketing technologies (e.g., Shopify, Headless Builders).
- Proficiency in data modeling, engineering, analytics, and modern measurement methodologies (e.g., MMMs, MTAs).
- Track record of managing digital projects and solutions across websites, eCommerce platforms, digital marketing, data warehousing, and CRM systems.
- Familiarity with agile workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and project management tools.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience scaling and managing technical teams.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with teams in creative, marketing, customer experience, and operations.
- Solid business acumen with the capability to align technology initiatives with overall business and client objectives.
- Background in a fast-paced, high-growth eCommerce environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $200,000 – $250,000 DOE
100% Remote / Monday-Friday Schedule
