Florida Memorial University in Opa Locka, Florida, produces successful graduates and offers an enjoyable college experience in the process. A small, private, historically African-American school (HBCU), Florida Memorial University offers academic and specialized occupational degrees, and a campus life that fosters creativity and spirituality. Florida Memorial’s undergraduate and graduate divisions include schools of: *Business *Education *Arts and Sciences Small classes give students the chance to work closely with accomplished faculty. More than 75% of professors at Florida Memorial have a PhD or other terminal degree in their field. There are also numerous rewards outside of class. Spiritual activities include ministry groups and chapel services. College life at Florida Memorial also includes creative activities like a school literary magazine, a student newspaper, a student theatre company and other arts activities. Florida Memorial also has fairly selective criteria when admitting students. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and at least a 21 on the ACT or 1000 on the SAT. Three letters of recommendation are required along with transcripts, test scores and an application. Given all of this, it only makes sense that Florida Memorial has produced some of the highest-paid graduates in the state of Florida. Florida Memorial awards financial aid primarily through federal sources, which are, in great part, based on financial need. These include Pell grants, federal loans, work-study and scholarships.
