The Faculty Development Coordinator shall be primarily responsible for supporting faculty professional learning and instructional growth. The successful candidate will oversee a range of programs and activities designed to enhance teaching effectiveness, facilitate workshops and seminars, and provide resources that promote continuous improvement. Housed within the Center for Teaching and Learning in the Office of Academic Services, this position plays a key role in strengthening faculty scholarship and advancing pedagogical excellence.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and implement professional learning experiences to enhance teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.
  • Facilitate engaging workshops, seminars, and training sessions on instructional strategies, pedagogy, and educational technology.
  • Provide individualized and group-based support to faculty to enhance instructional quality.
  • Collaborate with department chairs and academic leaders to assess faculty learning needs. Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of professional development initiatives on instructional performance and student learning.
  • Promote and support the adoption of innovative teaching tools, instructional technology, and evidence-based practices.
  • Foster and encourage faculty engagement in continuous professional growth opportunities.
  • Partner with faculty on instructional strategy development and curriculum innovation. Coordinate with other university units to ensure alignment of professional development with institutional goals.
  • Monitor current trends and research in pedagogy, adult learning, and faculty development to inform programming.
  • Manage and monitor budgets related to faculty development and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
  • Assist in drafting and administering policies and procedures related to faculty learning and instructional excellence.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, reflective practice, and academic excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission of faculty development and academic success.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep knowledge of instructional design, curriculum development, and adult learning theory.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in hybrid, online, and face-to-face teaching. Proficient in instructional technology and digital learning tools (e.g., LMS, Zoom, Panopto, Canva).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across departments.
  • High level of professionalism, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Confident presenter and facilitator with public speaking ability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting diverse faculty and student populations.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to support faculty with varying levels of experience.
  • Willingness to engage in moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs or standing/walking for extended periods.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education, Adult Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, or a closely related field required.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in multiple modalities, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle) and other instructional technologies.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in faculty development, instructional support, or a related area preferred.
