As Miami’s primary public research university and one of the largest schools in the nation, Florida International University (FIU) offers over 200 degree programs and a rich student life. FIU’s undergraduate and graduate academics lead to degrees in a highly diverse selection of subject areas. An example of these varied offerings include Anthropology, Architecture, Art History, Asian Studies, Business, Civil Engineering, Counselor Education, Dramatic Arts, Interior Design, Law Medicine, and Occupational Therapy. Research activities are a central part of many areas of study, giving medical and other students the chance to participate in cutting-edge research projects. Student life at FIU is also rich with opportunities. In addition to numerous student organizations and Greek life, there are dance and theatre performances and public lectures. FIU even has its own on-campus museums and also hosts a nationally renowned creative writing festival. Eligible undergraduates may receive some form of financial aid to assist with tuition, housing and other necessary expenses. Admission requirements to FIU include proof of a high school diploma or GED and submission of SAT or ACT scores. FIU has a priority deadline, with applications received on a rolling basis after that deadline. Students who apply after the priority deadline are accepted on a space-availability basis.
