Job Summary
The Director of Procurement & Logistics plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of eMed's procurement & logistics processes. You will oversee the procurement process from sourcing to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while maintaining quality standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Furthermore, this position is responsible for the seamless integration of all eMed logistics operations (including external international and domestic 3PL partners) and trade compliance and managing initiatives to consistently improve service levels, reducing costs through innovation, and maintaining highest possible safety protocols for all operational staff.

Organizational Relationship
  • Receives work assignments from CFO.
  • Administratively reports to the assigned supervisor.
  • May work independently or in conjunction with other staff to complete assigned tasks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain overall plan and strategy for ensuring timely product and materials procurement required to support the overall business objectives and commercial demand
  • Source product components and packaging as defined by product development stakeholders.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions for the acquisition of products and services
  • Manage contracts, and organize & maintain a database of all company vendors
  • Work with design and marketing counterparts to support product development, specifications and launch timelines, including the rapid sourcing of packaging and product prototypes for evaluation
  • Create and document processes and procedures related to procurement and logistics processes
  • Oversee all fulfillment and warehouse operations.
  • Enforce established processes and procedures related to logistics data quality and reporting (freight table accuracy, etc.).
  • Negotiate freight agreements to reduce transportation costs and improve service levels.
  • Ensure TMS, Freight Payment/Audit, Appointment Scheduling, Shipment/Carton tracking, BOL and SLA metrics are current and appropriate.
  • Lead Logistics Team to resolve logistical challenges that hinder flow of product through the supply chain.
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, science, research, legal, product, technology, etc. to find best vendors and distributors
  • Develop and implement a strategy to manage inventory to target levels
  • Participate in the development, revision and accuracy of production plans
  • Determine key KPIs, track KPI progress, and report KPI results
  • Understand the end-to-end supply chain, capacities, lead times & bottlenecks to ensure an efficient plan
  • Lead or participate in planning improvement projects
  • Communicate with vendors regarding specs, prioritization, shipping discrepancies, etc
  • Build and maintain great relationships with 3rd parties and internal stakeholders
  • Identify purchasing bottlenecks and implement solutions in a timely manner
  • Create and/or update area standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Manage operations to meet or exceed budget.
  • Meet or exceed annual goals with respect to chosen warehouse operation scorecard metrics (Accuracy in inventory, accuracy in order management, safety results, etc.).
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • BA/BS with a major in Business, Logistics, Engineering or equivalent work experience. MBA or Masters in Supply Chain Logistics desired
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in leadership/management roles related to procurement within a corporate environment
  • Minimum of 5 years leading distribution, transportation, or logistics within a national multi-warehouse model of comparable scale and scope.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Microsoft Project)
  • Knowledge of Warehouse and Transportation Management Systems
  • Skilled in developing relationships at the executive level and be particularly strong at making compelling cases for change
  • Superior communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiations skills, with strong influencing and persuasive talents
  • Ability to form and lead cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of end-to-end due diligence processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently, including making sound decisions and managing priorities that are in alignment with organizational objectives
  • Ability to work within a team-oriented environment
  • Time management, organization and planning skills, multi-tasking and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment are required
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, while meeting deadlines for assigned projects
