Coda Search is partnering with a top AM100 law firm in Midtown that’s looking to add a Senior Benefits & Leave Specialist to their growing HR team. This role will partner closely with legal personnel, payroll, and operations, and will have a broad scope covering new hire orientation, onboarding/offboarding, benefits administration, and managing all leave programs (FMLA, PFL, ADA accommodations, short/long-term disability, etc.). This role would report to the Chief Benefits and Well-Being Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the firm’s subject matter expert and main point of contact for all leave of absence programs, including FMLA, state-specific paid family leave, short- and long-term disability, workers’ compensation, and other related leave types.
- Oversee and coordinate ADA accommodation requests, including the interactive process with employees and managers, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Partner with external vendors, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to manage leave claims and accommodations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain firm-wide policies and best practices related to leave of absence and accommodations.
- Provide guidance to employees and managers on leave procedures, eligibility, and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and Legal teams to ensure accurate leave tracking, pay continuation, and compliance.
- Monitor, analyze, and prepare reports on leave trends, utilization, and compliance risks.
- Stay informed of evolving federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations, proactively updating policies and practices as needed.
- Deliver training and education for HR colleagues and firm leadership on leave and accommodation processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience managing leave of absence and benefits administration, ideally within a professional services or law firm environment.
- In-depth knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leave regulations.
- Proven experience working with third-party vendors and insurance carriers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on employee experience and service delivery.
