The Associate Director of Alumni and Donor Relations will play a pivotal role in enhancing Barry University's reputation and fostering meaningful connections with its donors, alumni, and the broader community stakeholders. This individual will be responsible for supporting the strategic planning and execution of various communication initiatives aimed at promoting the university advancement's mission, vision, and philanthropic goals that maximize the success of the University’s fundraising efforts.

Annual Publications and Mailings:

  • Curate at least 50 alumni and donor stories annually, to be used in a variety of channels (online, planned giving content, etc.)
  • Curate content and publish one magazine annually.
  • Design and publish the University Advancement annual report.
  • Collaborate with AVP of Alumni and Donor Relations and Senior Director of Alumni Relations, Annual Giving and Events to support and mail annual giving solicitations.
  • Ensure that the quality and relevance of content align with university goals and values.

Student, Alumni and Donor Interviews:

  • Conduct interviews to obtain stories, quotes, and other material for use by University Advancement, for magazines, annual report, etc.
  • Create videos of students, alumni and donors, for use by University Advancement.
  • Ensure compliance with release policies of the University.

Editorial Services:

  • Write and edit from a philanthropy and alumni engagement perspective.
  • Edit proposals and grant applications.
  • Edit and proofread external facing content, such as Annual Impact and Stewardship Reports, among others.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Donor Relations to develop and produce customized impact report for university endowment and major donors.

Comprehensive Communication Strategy and Plan:

  • Maintain a calendar of communication and engagement activities, including social media outreach efforts. This includes collaborating with the AVP of Alumni and Donor Relations to ensure all alumni, annual giving and donor relation communication and engagement activities are integrated and streamlined. The calendar should be at least 12 months in advance of each event.
  • Design, create and manage the social media posts and accounts for the Division of University Advancement. This position will directly manage platforms related to social media management.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Services AVP to execute communication via CRM or Almabase. This position will directly utilize the CRM and Almabase to disseminate communications to the various audiences.
  • Collaborate with the AVP of Advancement Services and Operations and the AVP of Alumni and Donor Relations to determine target audiences for various communications.
  • Collaborate with the AVP of Alumni and Donor Relations to ensure each signature event has a detailed marketing strategy.

Website Content:

  • Develop a cadence for reviewing and updating the content on any University Advancement websites.
  • Develop material to include on the website.

Case Statements, Donor Proposals and other creative writing content:

  • Manage University Advancement’s digital advertising, social media, and other brand functions to help increase and motivate and grow our alumni and donor base. Collaborate with central marketing teams to ensure streamlined efforts with messaging.
  • Design and produce case statements by college/school, by areas of priority for the university and by specific gift funds, as needed, for presentation to donors and for posting on website.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Business or related field.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in utilizing digital tools and platforms to enhance communication and outreach.
