The Coordinator serves as a key member of the Ministry and Community Outreach team providing essential program planning and organization to ensure department initiatives and programs are successfully planned and executed. With a focus on student advocacy programs, the Coordinator will implement campus and community engagement activities including Peace Week, Earth, Week, Eco-Adventures, First Gen Student Day, Veterans Day, Christmas Tree Lighting, among others. The Coordinator will also provide supervision to the Food Pantry AmeriCorps VISTA member. This position works with internal and external stakeholders to uphold the university’s mission and core commitments through community engagement programs, projects, and events.

Plan and implement student-centered environmental sustainability programs that support the university’s commitment to care for the sacredness of earth:

  • Co-chair the Earth Week and Earth Day planning committee, including scheduling meetings, publishing the calendar of events, and partnering with faculty and staff across the campus.
  • Coordinate the annual Earth Day Carnival event in April with eco-friendly vendors, educational, and fun activities.
  • Assist Director with planning and logistics for the Environmental Leadership Experience trip to Adrian MI.
  • Plan and chaperone eco-adventure trips to local points of interest.
  • Track and support the hydration station initiative with Facilities Management.
  • Serve on Barry’s Laudato Si committee

Support retention, student engagement, and parent activities that facilitate a vibrant campus experience:

  • Co-chair the Peace Week committee, including scheduling meetings, publishing the calendar of events, and partnering with faculty and staff across the campus.
  • Collaborate with New Student Programs on First Year Experience activities such as Taste of Home, First Year Retreat, Parent and Family Orientation, Parent and Family Night, Campus ESP newsletter.
  • Lead programs that support Veteran students, including the Veterans Day and Memorial Day celebrations in collaboration with the VA Certifying Official.
  • Co-chair the National First Gen Student Day celebration.

Facilitate programs & events that support overall goals of the Ministry and Community Outreach department:

  • Works with the Director and Chaplain to assist with university liturgies, traditions, and special events. Supports interfaith committee programs and activities. Supervise the Food Pantry VISTA, including onboarding, progress reports, webinars, timesheets, and required tasks by AmeriCorps. Completes required AmeriCorps trainings, documents, and meetings.
  • Coordinates Food Pantry schedule and provides training and support to VISTA members.

Coordinate general office operations that support execution of Student Advocacy Programs:

  • Submit marketing and promotion tasks, including tracking of tickets, posting on Corq, GivePulse, and social media, campus signage and maintaining an up to date department website.
  • Processing purchases in Workday: creating requisitions, monitoring purchase orders, creating receipts for items received and following up to ensure timely payment has been processed and submitted to vendors.
  • Collecting, scanning, and saving AMEX credit card receipts in preparation for the account reconciliations.
  • Update department cost center tracking document, including proposed budget expenses and final payments, on a weekly basis.
  • Supervise federal work study and VISTA members, including timesheet approval, scheduling, and training
