The Senior Director for Alumni Relations, Annual Giving, and Events provides strategic leadership and coordination for alumni engagement, annual giving campaigns, and all advancement events within the university. This role oversees the development and execution of comprehensive alumni relations strategies, manages annual giving initiatives, and coordinates diverse events to enhance donor stewardship and community relations.

Strategic Leadership and Coordination Develop and implement strategic plans for alumni relations, annual giving, and event management to support the university’s advancement goals. Coordinate all aspects of advancement events, including planning, logistics, participant engagement, and post-event evaluation.

Alumni Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with alumni through effective communication, programming, and engagement opportunities. Develop strategies to enhance alumni involvement in university activities, volunteerism, and philanthropic support.

Annual Giving: Lead the design and implementation of annual giving campaigns to maximize donor participation and philanthropic contributions. Develop compelling fundraising appeals, stewardship initiatives, and donor recognition programs.

Event Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of a wide range of advancement events, including reunions, donor recognition events, cultivation events, and fundraising galas. Manage event budgets, timelines, and logistics to ensure seamless execution and maximize donor engagement and participation.

Program Management: Manage crowdfunding websites and other online giving platforms to support fundraising efforts and donor engagement. Collaborate with development teams to align event and campaign strategies with overall fundraising and alumni engagement goals.

Continuous Improvement: Evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in alumni relations strategies, annual giving campaigns, and event management practices. Implement innovative approaches to enhance donor engagement, stewardship practices, and event experiences.

Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with development teams, university leadership, and volunteers to align alumni relations, annual giving, and event strategies with overall fundraising objectives. Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance community relations and support institutional priorities.

Qualifications/Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, accounting, management or similar field required.
    • Master's degree preferred
    • 8 years of experience in accounting, advancement services, computer sciences or closely related area
    • Demonstrated ability to autonomously and accurately manage alumni relations and event logistics.
    • Proven track record of initiating and overseeing projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and executing them successfully.
    • Experience in utilizing data-driven insights to inform alumni engagement strategies and event planning.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges and implement effective solutions.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for fostering relationships and interacting effectively with diverse alumni and event attendees.
    • Flexibility and availability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to accommodate event schedules and alumni activities.
    • Exceptional organizational abilities and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines consistently.
    • Proactive approach to problem-solving and project management, ensuring proactive management of alumni relations and event planning processes.
    • Effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners to achieve shared objectives and enhance alumni engagement.
    • Proficiency in conducting thorough research and analysis to support alumni engagement initiatives and event strategies effectively.
