The College of Health and Wellness has accredited programs, such as Counseling, Social Work, Nursing and Occupational Therapy. The School Psychology Program is accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists. The program is divided into two parts, a master’s degree in School Psychology (foundational degree) and a specialist degree in School Psychology. The specialist degree program is approved by the Florida Department of Education. The program supports the Psychoeducational Assessment Clinic (PAC) that is part of the CARE Center.

Anticipated Start Date: August 2024 (ASAP)

The School Psychology position (Assistant/Associate Professor) is a full-time faculty line. The Assistant/Associate Professor position requires a Doctoral (Ph.D., PsyD.) Degree in School Psychology with three years of experience as a school psychologist. Applicants for the Assistant/Associate faculty position must be eligible for licensure as a School Psychologist or Psychologist in the state of Florida. A successful candidate for the position must be open to collaborating with diverse individuals, fostering community, and social justice.

The Assistant/Associate Professor will direct the master’s and specialist degree programs in School Psychology. The director will teach a reduced course load in compliance with NASP 2020 standards and will oversee all activities related to the functioning of the master’s and specialist degree programs in School Psychology. It is expected that the faculty member will actively engage in research and professional/community service. The full-time faculty member will advise School Psychology students and supervise student research projects. Position also requires participation in University and College of Health and Wellness meetings and duties as assigned by the University or the Dean of the College of Health and Wellness.

Position Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Doctoral in School Psychology
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the critical issues in the field of School Psychology
  • Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and best practices in School Psychology
  • Higher education/university level teaching experience
  • Experience using online learning management systems (i.e., Canvas)
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with other faculty to resolve both programmatic and student-related issues.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Proficient writing skills
