Summary

This Residence Coordinator is responsible for providing direction, coordination and supervision of 9-15 Resident Assistants; and for administering between 300 – 600 beds spread throughout several residence halls. Provides student leadership development and service-learning programs and participates in campus and community organizations. This position also serves in a collaborative role with other HRL&C staff in the overall development of departmental programs, services, and operations.

This is an In-person position

This is a Full-time, 12-month, live-in, professional position.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise, train, & evaluate Resident Assistants.

  • Conduct one-on-one meetings.

  • Perform performance Evaluations.

  • Evaluate programming requests and help Resident Assistants assess the needs of residents.

  • Ensure programming directly ties into the strategic plan of the division of student affairs along with the mission and core commitments of the university.

  • Allocate, manage, and reconcile programming funds.

  • Assist with selecting, training, and in-service activities for Resident Assistants.

  • Manage day-to-day maintenance and facilities issues with appropriate maintenance, facilities, and custodial staff, execute regular key/access audits, and conduct appropriate follow-up on community-specific facilities issues

  • Conduct and supervise Health and Safety Inspections

  • Conduct weekly area walk through of facilities. Maintaining visibility and presence within the assigned community, serving as a positive role model for students and staff.

  • Safety and Security Equipment.

  • Responsible for the administration of departmental wide programming efforts in the form of “All Hall” programs, as well as adhering to the departmental residential curriculum model.

  • Serves in a collaborative role with other Housing and Residence Life (HRL) staff in the overall development of departmental programs, services and operations.

  • Design and implement residential engagement initiatives to support student success, health & wellness, and spiritual & personal discernment in accordance with departmental outcomes.

  • Provide On call Duty Coverage.

  • Primary response for emergencies on campus.

  • Rotate on call coverage with other Residence Coordinators, on call coverage to include holidays, weekends, and summer sessions.

  • Work effectively with different constituents regarding emergencies such as Public Safety, Facilities Management and Miami Shores Police.

  • Assist in the management of student behavior through conducting student conduct hearings and applying educational sanctions.

  • Serve as a conduct hearing officer/administrator for assigned community

  • Provide expedited outreach and follow-up for students of concern, and mediate interpersonal conflicts as needed.

  • Supervises Work Study Position (Desk Assistants)

  • Hiring, training, and scheduling for Desk Assistants in Area.

  • Works closely with Human Resources in regards to DA supervision.

  • Actively involved with Student Development divisional programs and initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master's degree required

  • 1 - 3 years relevant work experience required.

  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • Ability to articulate department policies to students, solve complex problems and make sound decisions based on available information.

  • Ability to analyze student and staff issues and understand university mission to utilize in applying educational sanctions, formulate training for staff, and gear programming model to fit.

  • Ability to formulate relevant training programs for Resident Assistants.

  • Ability to apply knowledge and skills in developing and managing RA selection process, and to formulate and implement effect evaluations for RAs.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, proficient in Judicial Officer software and other Housing Software Systems.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with parents, students, and other outside constituents regarding a variety of issues.
