Crisis Response and Readiness Manager
Assurant
The Crisis Response and Readiness Manager under the Global Security organization is a key leadership role responsible for Incident identification and Corporate Crisis Management for local, regional, and /or global events that impact Assurant, and provide oversight and direction to the team members assigned to the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), supervising performance behavior and results based on established operating procedures, guidelines, and expectations. This role will work closely with business operations teams, people organization (HR), business leaders, and employees to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive information-driven strategies.
Job Responsibilities
Threat Management
- Provide oversight and direction to the team members assigned to the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), supervising performance behavior and results based on established operating procedures, guidelines, and expectations
- Be responsible for the training, metrics, and quality control elements of all GSOC products
- Provide strategic direction and lead GSOC team members in all activities and emerging issues, while establishing a program that will scale to Assurant’s business needs
- Oversee monitoring of and notifications/communications for security incidents, crisis response operations, and emerging threats impacting Assurant people, facilities, and global operations
- Provide threat assessments and situational assessments upon request to assist with critical situational awareness
- Lead the publication of assessments regarding potential operational and strategic threats and concerns to Assurant and disseminate to appropriate stakeholders; provide senior management with the information they need to mitigate those threats through analysis and assessments
- Develop and implement procedures as it relates to benchmarking and industry trends specific to technology, automation, directives, and standard operating procedures
Crisis Management
- Produce concise, written analyses and visual presentations on findings that involve significant risks to Assurant's people, property, and interests; continually assess the value, significance, and relevance of information developed.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to conduct tabletop exercises, simulation drills, and full-scale live exercises.
- Establish a cadre of Crisis Management external vendors and consultants; educating key internal stakeholders and clients; lead/contributing to the expansion of Crisis Management methodologies and deliverables
- Assess existing capabilities and systems and identify opportunities for improvement
- Be flexible in communicating with all levels within an organization, including working with senior management to create decision advantages, while adhering to established analytic standards, such as being accurate, timely, relevant, and actionable
- Actively expand consulting skills and professional development through training courses, mentoring, and daily interaction with clients
Travel Security and Safety Management
- Lead the travel security and emergency response, including advising international travelers in the region on security issues.
- Oversee the publication of health, safety, and security information and advisories to Assurant travelers and leadership before departure
- Continuous education and socialization on the services and benefits of Assurant’s travel assistance provider, including what to expect when booking travel with Assurant and how it works during travel
- Identifying potential consulting opportunities and services in areas of high-risk travel
Special Event Monitoring
- Proactively identify, assess, and determine the impact of potential threats and incidents.
- Help inform Assurant's protocols and practices for assessing and mitigating threats and potential risks. Coordination with security counterparts for the purpose of making risk-based recommendations regarding posture and resource allocation.
- Conduct pre-event assessment and make recommendations for ensuring the safety of event and trip plans; increase awareness and proactive security/mitigation measures
- Assess the location's safety, evaluate the transportation routes, determine the venues, identify potential security risks, and evaluate hotels
- Partner with key internal/external stakeholders, event personnel, venue management and security ahead of events to ensure the safety and security of employees and assets
- Serve as a contact point, liaison, and virtual or onsite support
Technology
- Use the Risk Management System of Record to log incidents and report critical Alert Levels and Incident Types to stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Administer tools and manage service providers that support operational processes, including executive security, emergency notification, global incidents, travel tracking, and booking tools.
- Manage a worldwide network of emergency response vendors to ensure that Assurant has access to the right response capabilities, information-sharing networks, advice, and equipment wherever the need arises.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Security, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a global crisis management and business resilience/continuity of operations role for Multi-National Corporations and/or State or Federal Offices of Emergency Management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with senior-level management. Individual must possess a mature ability to deal with stress and make sound professional judgment in potentially threatening environments. Ability to solve practical problems and react quickly and calmly to changing or emergency circumstances.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in conducting training and exercises, with strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, informed decisions during high-stress situations.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and recommend effective solutions.
Preferred Skills
- FEMA Certifications in ICS, COOP, (PCP, MCP), NIMS, MEPP, ICS, etc.; or ITIL, ASIS/CPP or PSP or ISACA/CISM Certifications preferred.

Pay Range:
$86,000.00 - $143,700.00Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
