Akkodis is seeking a Java Developer for a Contract-to-hire job with a client in McLean, VA (Hybrid). Responsibilities include designing and deploying enterprise applications, mentoring the team on modern software engineering practices, and collaborating with business lines and IT to ensure successful delivery.

Rate Range: $62/hour to $67/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Java Developer job responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with business lines and IT teams to understand requirements and influence project outcomes.

• Mentoring the development team, ensuring the adoption of modern software engineering practices like Agile, TDD, and Microservices.

• Writing and optimizing complex SQL queries and working in a Unix environment.

• Utilizing modern tools such as Jenkins, Selenium, Git, and Maven for efficient development and deployment.

• Ensuring high-quality technical solutions by adhering to best practices in software development.

• Working with cloud technologies (AWS, Google) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable application delivery.

• Troubleshooting and resolving issues across the application stack, ensuring continuous improvement.

• Estimating effort and providing input for project planning in collaboration with support teams.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced studies/degree preferred.

• 5+ years of experience in software development with 2-3 years in modernized development teams.

• Proficiency in Java, Angular, Unix Shell scripting, node.js, SQL, and Python.

• Experience with modern tools like Jenkins, Cucumber, Selenium, and cloud technologies (AWS, Google).

Pay Details: $62.00 to $67.00 per hour
