Akkodis is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Raymond OH. ideally looking for applicants with strong experience in automotive electrical component design and expertise in CATIA V5/V6, sheet metal, injection molding, FEA/CAE analysis and Automotive experience would be a big plus.

Rate Range: $40/hour to $50/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Lead the design and development of automotive electrical components (radar, vision systems, safety sensors, control units) from concept through mass production.
• Create and release detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5/V6, including advanced surfacing and digital mock-ups.
• Perform design feasibility studies, tolerance stack-up, strength calculations, DFMEA, and cost analysis to ensure optimized part performance.
• Coordinate prototyping, fabrication, testing, and manufacturing activities to ensure on-time program delivery.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, suppliers, and program teams to drive design for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
• Manage multiple technical projects while providing technical leadership and meeting program milestones.

Desired Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering (MS with 5+ years OR BS with 8+ years of relevant experience).
• Strong expertise in CATIA V5/V6, including surfacing, meshing, FEA/CAE, sheet metal & draft analysis.
• Proven experience designing automotive electrical components and related mounting systems.
• Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes: sheet metal forming/stamping/welding and injection molding.
• Strong understanding of tolerance stack-up, DFMEA, and cost-effective part design.
• Demonstrated leadership and advanced project management skills handling multiple programs.
