Position Title: Regional Director Sales Engineering – 9E

Position Summary

Responsible for leading a team of Sales Engineers that provide the technical support to the Sales Engineering team in the South Region

Essential Job Functions

Provide the technical expertise to develop custom solutions that meet customer requirements.
Provide the training and knowledge required to develop the technical competencies of the Sales Engineers and by extension the Sales Team.
Support the definition and development of new products based on feedback from the Sales Engineers and customers.
Function as the primary technical resource to review and respond to all pre-sales design requirements that Crown Castle receives.
Provide technical direction to Sales Engineers to develop solutions for customer opportunities.
Participate in customer meetings as required to support Sales opportunities.
Develop technical proposals and presentations for Sales, Sales Engineers, and Customers.

Bachelor of Arts Computer Science or Bachelor of Science Engineering
Industry certification in IP discipline (CCNA, MEF, Vendor Specific) preferred but not required
Experience/Minimum Requirements

Seven (7) or more years of experience in Technology, Network Design and Engineering, Product Management, and/or Sales Engineering.
Ability to multi-task and meet customer deadlines.
Strong sales skills in presentation and proposal design
Experience/Knowledge with competing technologies and service providers and application of that knowledge in the sales cycle
Experience with computer software programs such as CRM tools and Microsoft Office Products including Excel & Visio & Mapping software
Ability to multi task and meet multiple deadlines
High degree of knowledge of Fiber Optic characteristics, such as impact of dB loss, latency
Strong knowledge of general industry networking technologies such as IP, MPLS, Ethernet, SONET, DWDM
Working knowledge of Carrier Ethernet Technologies including MEF 9 & 14 standards; VLANS, Q-in-Q, Data Link Layer Tunneling, RSTP, G.8032, Y.1731
Knowledge of IP Routing protocols such as BGP and Routed Protocols, including IPv4 and IPv6
Other Skills/Abilities

Demonstrated success as a top sales performer consistently exceeding quota
Strong desire to learn the telecommunications sales market
Must have the ability to prospect, qualify, and close at multiple levels
Basic understanding of data/Internet uses and demonstrated ability to sell to business customers
Strong computer knowledge: MS Office including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; contact management software experience (Salesforce, Microsoft CRM, Siebel)
Organizational Relationship

Reports to: Vice President of Sales Engineering

Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable: Sales Engineer, Senior Sales Engineer

Working Conditions: Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions. During COVID19 conditions, this role will work remotely to mitigate risk. This position will require travel when conditions allow.
