The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer to join our growing and dynamic team based at our worldwide corporate headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Cloud Operations Engineer is responsible for oversite and general availability of our customers cloud environments, including patching, managing backups, managing the security tools on top of our customers, and driving automation into the environment to make the operations team more efficient. The Cloud Operations team members are generally not customer facing but are the team managing the daily operational items and helping to drive continuous improvement into our customer’s environments.
What you’ll be doing:
Help make our operations team be more efficient through continuous improvement of our cloud environments
Be the subject matter expert in monitoring, patching, backup, host-based security tooling, and maintenance of our customers so that we are operating proactively and providing added value to our customer base.
Provide proactive continuous improvement of platforms, tools, processes, and automation to support our Managed Services customers
Proactively identify and address issues before they occur through efficient monitoring and tool management
Work within a team that is responsible for customer patching, backups, backup/restore validation, and event/alert tuning.
Support, document and execute upgrades and migrations to support platform lifecycle management
Work with peers inside and outside of Operations to promote and expand automation of operational tasks
Proactively build scripts to automate recurring tasks and deployments to drive efficiency in our operations
Contribute to incident root cause analysis, with enough knowledge to drive tangible improvements through problem management
This position has after-hours and on call (rotational) responsibilities.
Engage in professional development to maintain skills, knowledge, and certifications.
Occasional travel may be needed.
Is this role for you?
3+ years of hands-on experience in a specific technology practice (Infrastructure, Network, Storage, Servers, Security, Windows, Linux, etc.)
Experience in Monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, DataDog, Nagios
Experience in designing, building, or supporting a hosted product/service
Experience with Windows and/or a common Linux distributions
Experience with backup solutions such as Veeam and CommVault
Experience and Knowledge in enterprise patching tools (SCCM, SolarWinds, and AWS)
Experience with intermediate PowerShell and/ or other scripting skills
Experience with enterprise antivirus / host-based security platforms
Experience with a Public Cloud Provider (IaaS and PaaS) such as Amazon Web Services, Azure and/or Virtualization Technologies such as Xen, HyperV or vSphere.
Experience with Security Certifications such as PCI, ISO 27001, SOC II Type 1/2, FISMA/FedRAMP and HIPAA.
High Sense of Urgency – This job entails supporting business critical applications, with stringent SLAs
