We are seeking a Platform Operations – Backup Administrator to join our growing team and have a strong preference for this position to be based at our worldwide corporate headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Backup Administrator will be focused on managing the daily backups for our customers, and set the policy and procedures for troubleshooting/verifying our backups are healthy and recoverable by our customers.
What you’ll be doing:
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Works with Veeam, CommVault, and AWS backup services in a large mixed environment of both windows and Linux/UNIX servers both on premise and in the cloud
Ability to build and design backup infrastructure to gain efficiencies across on premise and cloud environments
Understands and has excellent knowledge and skills to trouble shoot backup issues such as long running jobs, data through put concerns, tape issues, storage issues, and job failures.
Needs to be proficient in Veeam and AWS policies and schedules, have the ability to create policies, and work with defined schedules is a must.
Must understand how to troubleshoot backup issues on both windows servers, and Linux/Unix servers down to the hard, network, throughput, and system failure level
Must follow established company processes, including change management, incident management, and problem management processes
Requires the ability to work after hours for night backup jobs that may have issues
Is this role for you?
3+ years of hands-on experience in a specific technology practice (Infrastructure, Network, Storage, Servers, Security, Windows, Linux, etc.)
Experience in a customer facing role (professional services, support, etc.) and the ability to manage customer relationships up to the senior/executive level
Practical experience of running scalable cloud and on-premise backup environments
Good grasp of potential performance and reliability issues across large enterprise backup environment
Track record of running lean and efficient backup operations
Experience in designing, building or supporting a hosted service with an MSP
Experience with Service NOW and making it a value-added tool for the organization
Experience with a Public Cloud Provider (IaaS and PaaS) such as Amazon Web Services, Azure and/or Virtualization Technologies such as Xen, HyperV or vSphere
Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, SolarWinds, Nagios)
AWS certifications a plus
Microsoft Certifications a plus
Hands on troubleshooting skills in Windows and Linux
Less than 10% travel
