Position Summary:

The Destination Development Group manages over $1 billion of assets under management (AUM) across various cruise port investments, and with a pipeline of port investments exceeding $2 billion, is actively engaged in acquiring cruise ports and related commercial developments across the globe for both strategic reasons and financial returns.

The Lead, Destination Development Finance position, reports to the Senior Manager of Destination Development Finance, and supports making strategic business decisions to achieve business objectives and obtain financial returns. Responsibilities include a heavy focus on financial modeling, assisting with building the business case for the pipeline of investments, and managing capital needs.

This position assesses pipeline deals in accordance with business objectives and target financial returns. The role is responsible for formulating and leading the financial analysis for a proposed investment pipeline currently estimated at $2 billion. Proposed investments include creating wholly owned subsidiaries as well as forming joint ventures with other cruise lines and other third-party investors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, design, develop business case and financial models to evaluate new potential investments and modeling multiple scenarios to help inform groups decision.
  • Take complex and detailed investment structures and communicate the key drivers and results in a concise manner and formulate meaningful recommendations.
  • Manage concurrently multiple projects without compromising on the quality of the work by planning around tight timelines and effectively interfacing with business partners and other professionals.
  • Partner with internal groups (Technical Accounting Group, Corporate Strategy, Tax, Legal, Treasury) to ensure potential investments are aligned and properly structured in accordance with business objectives and strategies to minimize risks and maximize returns.
  • Ensure capital plan reflects the proposed spend from pipeline investments to ensure equity funding needs are communicated clearly.
  • Prepare internal memoranda and other materials used to support investment recommendations and to communicate with internal constituents.
  • Assist with deal structuring, negotiation of terms sheets, and financing terms.
  • Some travel may be required.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, and MBA preferred.
  • Prefer 5-7 years of financial services, infrastructure, private equity, real estate, or transaction services experience with a focus on financial modeling and valuation.
  • Critical success factors for this role will be strong financial modelling skills, knowledge of valuation techniques, the ability to collaborate well with internal and external partners, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to develop financial models independently with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of valuation methods and debt structures.
  • Strong knowledge of business strategy, accounting, and finance; particularly a solid grasp of complex project financing structures and calculating investment returns.
  • Capable of making independent decisions.
  • Results-oriented team player comfortable with interacting with all levels of an organization.
  • Aptitude for synthesizing complex financial structures of investments into clear and concise communications for the broader group, highlighting key drivers and risks to support decision makers.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills for interacting with external and internal partners and delivering recommendations and results to senior management.
  • Proactive and self-starter mentality to work both independently and as a team to gather information and develop the economic business case for proposed investments.
  • Proven ability to drive multiple investment analyses in a time critical, transaction-oriented environment.
